Trauma-Focused Therapy: Online CBT & EMDR

Hello, and welcome to my practice! My name is Jodie and I am passionate about helping others transform their lives through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

My personal experiences of anxiety has shown me the profound impact this therapy can have, as it can address the vital connection between the mind and body. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or unhelpful thinking patterns, CBT can help you develop practical tools to manage difficulties and improve your wellbeing.

I provide online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, and EMDR for adults living in Cornwall and Devon, across the UK and wider Europe. Online CBT/EMDR offers the same evidence-based, effective support as in-person therapy, with the flexibility to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Empowering change through CBT & EMDR

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy  for Anxiety and Overthinking

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, collaborative approach that helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected.

Are you:

  • Constantly overthinking, even small things

  • Feeling on edge or unable to fully relax

  • Struggling with anxiety that doesn’t quite make sense

  • Reacting emotionally in ways you don’t understand

  • Coping on the outside, but overwhelmed underneath

By learning to spot unhelpful thought patterns and replace them with more balanced, constructive ones. Helping you build healthier habits, reduce stress, and create lasting positive change.

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) for PTSD

If you’ve experienced trauma, it can leave lasting effects that are difficult to understand or put into words. You may feel:

  • on edge or unable to fully relax

  • stuck in painful memories

  • disconnected from yourself or others

  • coping on the outside, but overwhelmed underneath

These reactions are common responses to trauma — and they can change.

I work with people experiencing Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT).

Together, we can

  • Understand how past experiences influence your current patterns

  • Break cycles of anxiety and overthinking

  • Develop practical tools to feel calmer and more in control

  • Move forward at a pace that feels safe and manageable

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) for PTSD

If you’re struggling with the impact of trauma, you’re not alone. EMDR is a therapy that can help you process difficult experiences so they feel less overwhelming and no longer control how you feel day to day.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy designed to help your brain process distressing memories. After trauma, memories can feel “stuck,” leading to symptoms like anxiety, flashbacks, or feeling constantly on edge.

EMDR helps your brain reprocess these memories so they become less intense and feel more like something in the past, rather than something you’re reliving.

How Can It Help You?

During EMDR sessions, you’ll briefly focus on a difficult memory while your therapist guides you through gentle side-to-side eye movements or tapping. This helps your brain process the memory in a more adaptive way. You don’t need to go into detail about everything that’s happened. The focus is on helping your mind and body respond differently to those memories.

Many people experience:

  • Less emotional distress linked to past events

  • Fewer intrusive thoughts or flashbacks

  • A greater sense of calm and control

  • Improved confidence and self-belief

Take the First Step

If you’re considering EMDR, you’re welcome to get in touch. We can talk through your situation and explore whether this approach feels right for you. You don’t have to keep carrying this alone—support is available, and change is possible.
